I Have A Dream

Two score and eighteen years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made his renowned I Have A Dream speech. Fifty-eight years later Americans have lost sight of what he declared that sweltering day as he stood proudly in the shadow of President Lincoln’s memorial

The Legend Of Rice And Beans

My dear friend Barty Aum wrote, performed and produced a song called Rice And Beans. A few years ago, I was compelled to write the rest of the story.

The Legend Of Rice And Beans

You’ve heard the ballad immortalizing the bank-robbing lovers, Rice and Beans. Now it’s time to sit back while I tell you the real, untold story of the ill-fated couple from East New Orleans

Take Away The Hurt, Please

There are so many directions I can go with this post. Reining it in is a bit salient. Anyone who is afflicted with PTSD or CPTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) will oft times seek out ways to make that pain go away. To do this, we engage in self-harm

Bitter Or Sweet

Recently, a friend encouraged me to begin a special cleanse regime using a product she had started using a few months before. I do try to do a cleanse of my body periodically and was looking to do so in the near future, so I gave her product a try. Noticing no difference in anything after a week, I stopped using the product and discussed it with my friend. She gave me a link to someone she knows who also uses the product and suggested I watch the video before disregarding it altogether

Beware This Boy

Recently, I posted a meme on Facebook regarding the anniversary of the witch trials in Salem, Massachusetts. I mentioned on this post that ignorance is still killing the innocents. A few days later, I woke to thoughts of a scene from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. More specifically, the Alastair Sims’  movie version with the final scene between Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghost of Christmas present

The Way To Heaven

Recently, I have been binge watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. While watching an episode in the sixth season, the Klingon character Worf, was struggling with his faith and whether or not there really is a Sto-vo-kor or heaven.
All organized religions on Earth seem to have some sort of afterlife woven into their tenet. Some have only a paradise that awaits; while others teach of a reward – heaven, and a punishment – hell

What’s In A Name?

There are so many ways this post could go, given the title I have chosen. We could explore William Shakespeare’s play Romeo And Juliet where he penned the oft used quad of words. Of course, I borrowed them from him, he is, after all, one of my favorite poets. Juliet spoke these words to Romeo to help him better understand that their love was strong and had nothing to do with the feud between their families

Resolute Or Rebel

I was just looking through my old posts and it seems I began writing blog posts for/just after New Year a few years back. Guess this means it is either a tradition or a habit. Not exactly sure which category I want to place this in.
New Year’s Eve found me in bed fighting my dragon

E Pur Si Muove

Not long ago, I was watching a television show where a scientist was working on an important project related to the characters in the program. She paused and said, “E pur si muove. And yet it moves.” She looked at the other person with whom she was speaking and went on to discuss how things we now see and have proven scientifically were once forbidden and called heretical

Comment on You Are So Sweet by SudsEats

I agree with all you wrote. That American scone is a travesty. Everything is loaded with sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup. Low fat diet food is high in sugar and salt to compensate for the lack of fat
